The vacuum casting materials that we use at HK PRECISE PROTOTYPE are two-part resins that we mix just before pouring them into the silicone mold. These resins are analogs of common plastic injection molding material and they offer comparable appearance and performance.We can duplicate polypropylene, ABS, nylon, acrylic, and various hardness(30-90shore A) of soft plastic. We can also add glass fibers to increase the stiffness of ABS and nylon for even more design options.

Quality Control of dimension accuracy

HK PRECISE PROTOTYPE strictly controlls the dimension accuracy of the master, before proceeding to the next step, full-dimension measurement of the master will be carried out to ensure copies are compliant with specs from the source.Also we select high-quality room-temperature vulcanized silicone as the material for making the vacuum casting mould, and we also carry out a whole standard operation procedure to ensure our products possessing optimal dimension accuracy and mechanical properties. We elaborately control the operational parameters of each link in the working procedure, including blending, de-foaming, stirring, pre-heating, casting and solidifying to ensure  everything is going smoothly.

Diversified materials  selecting for vacuum casting

The pouring materials of HK PRECISE PROTOTYPE all come from HEI-CAST and PELNOX of Japan and AXSON of France, whose physical properties similar to those of the commonly used engineering plastics, such as ABS, PP, PA and POM, or those of the transparent pouring materials, or those of the elastomeric materials, such as rubber (40-90shord D). Our Company also has high temperature resistant materials able to withstand the temperature of 150, and fire-proof materials reaching the UL94-V0 Level. Our engineers all possess about twenty years of experience, who can provide you with optimal programs concerning the substitute materials.

Vacuum Casting Process

1 First-phase preparation, the silicone mold is placed in an oven and heated to 60°C-70°C.

2 Assemble the mold before casting the polyurethane. Choosing right mold-release agent (and using it properly) is very important to avoid stickiness and surface defects.

3 Prepare the polyurethane resins to preheat it to about 40°C before use. Mix two-component resins in exact proportions, and then fully stir and degas for 50-60 seconds under vacuum.

4 The resin is poured into the mold inside the vacuum chamber under computer control, and cured again in the oven. Average cure time: 1-3 hours for small parts and 3-6 hours for big parts.

5  Remove the resin part from the silicone mold after cured. Remove the gates and vents; leave an exact copy of the original.

6 Prepare to repeat this cycle.

Tolerance

The tolerance of the vacuum casting service mainly depends on the geometric structure of the rapid palstic  prototype model. In the process of vacuum casting, HK PRECISE PROTOTYPE Corporation always makes heat treatment for mould forming with a bakelite splint, so as to ensure the accuracy of the rapid palstic  prototype dimension.
